About Us
Idori was founded by Noah Sorin, whose love for nature was shaped during his childhood growing up in Montgomery, VT surrounded by beautiful forests, rivers, and mountains. From an early age, those experiences instilled in him a deep appreciation for the natural world and a desire to protect it. When Noah moved to Boston to attend Boston University, he noticed a stark contrast. Many children in urban environments had limited opportunities to connect with nature, even though early childhood is a critical time for forming values, habits, and empathy.

Through conversations with parents, teachers, and educators, Noah learned that environmental education often begins too late, long after foundational attitudes have already formed. While working at the Boston Outdoor Preschool Network, Noah saw firsthand how young children learn best through play, imagination, and storytelling. This experience inspired him to create a more engaging and age-appropriate way to introduce sustainability concepts to kids.
At Boston University, Noah met Shumita Littlefield, an illustrator who shared his passion for storytelling and education. Together, they began bringing environmental lessons to life through characters, stories, and visual worlds designed specifically for young children.
What started as a small idea during Noah’s freshman year grew into Idori, a project that combines children’s books, plush toys, and hands-on activities to make sustainability accessible, hopeful, and empowering. Today, Idori partners with schools and communities around Boston and beyond, supported by a growing team of student volunteers, all working toward one goal: helping children build a lifelong connection to the planet and the confidence to care for it.
